The Resume A good resume should do more than just tell people where you have worked. The fact is, employers don't care. What employers care about are the things that set you apart from other
applicants. What have you accomplished? What skills will you bring to their organization? How will hiring you make their organization more successful? So, just how does an effective resume accomplish these
goals? Here are some general guidelines and tips.
- Focus on what you achieved. You should devote more space to accomplishments than responsibilities.
- Use strong action verbs.
- Never use the passive voice.
- Make sure the layout is simple, and clean. Avoid using too much formatting: keep margins generous, use font formatting (underlining, bold face, italics) sparingly.
